The central cube is representative of God... and smallest cube is nothing but individual... the color coding stands for Religions... grey areas are the actual gray areas, which no one is aware of...

Like for instance even if there are religions, no two individuals following same religion are at the same plane. Few are exposed to other religions as well... others are having more gray areas and only one religion...
Even the religions don't have a unified vision of the Truth... and there are internal sects/sections...
Open to all other interpretations and thoughts :)
