More about Abu

Here's "an introductory type" of mail I had sent across to our "in-house magazine" team - its all about the things that I'm passionate about - and how my passions have evolved over a period of time...

Team… Really nice to know that there are RD lovers and avid bikers in this gang
Passions of many of us keep changing with times…

Apart from auto’s, I used to collect currencies, coins and stamps in school days… total value of the currencies-still-in-circulation goes to around 25k INR…

During 11th – 12th days it used to be music especially rock… Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi…

College days it used to be presenting technical papers and going to places on college expenses ;) apart from the college-katta (usual place of mechies)… I remember going to MNREC - Allahabad, GCoE – Goa, Sangli, Pusad (near Amravati?), Jalgaon and many other colleges and places in 3rd and final year of BE… paper presentation was just an excuse to enjoy and have fun with friends…

Also I tried volleyball in engineering… started off in 2nd year and by the time we reached final year we were one of the best teams in our college…

Then Yezdi happened and took up touring on bike… don’t remember how many times I must have done Bombay-Pune… Alibag and Murud with school buddies is a regular thing… Bombay-Solapur (450 kms) in a single day is max that I have done… 850 kms over a stretch of 3 days has been the longest ride (you can read more on this topic here and here)

Always used to write… Worked with College magazine as member and then editor for English Section… My review article on famous Mario Puzo novel “The Godfather” won first prize in Shivaji University Kolhapur and was sent for state level (was not so lucky there ;) )… Writing became passion when I took up Editorship for the inhouse e-magazine at Patni… wrote regularly not just editorials but many articles on variety of subjects there… last minute things were also very much a part of that team :)

Photography is another thing that I’m keenly interested in… but abhi tak digital camera liya nahi hai… I like it the old-school film camera but it's sort of expensive considering the cost of films, developing, etc… (now I do have a basic one)

Even tried trekking… First one was Lingamala falls near Mahabaleshwar… that was an easy one… josh mein aa kar took up Harishchandra Gadh with few regular trekker friends… wat lag gayi thi… phir baad mein kabhi trek ka nam nahi liya!!!

So, passions to kaafi sare hain… but the one which I cherish the most is biking… can go on and on writing about them par public bore ho jayega!!!
