Noise Control!

We all are constantly at the receiving end of endless information, thrown at us without any particular preference or order or relevance!

Sure, we are in control of our "newsfeed", as it is called - apparently "feeding" us the "news". But, then we really cannot control what the people in-charge of populating the feed are posting. Nor are we in control of events that are triggering the feed.

However, we choose to ignore most of the things coming in our feed. Occasionally, hiding inappropriate ones, or blocking, or reporting them. This has causes us to apply a first level of filtering criteria - typically where our attention span is very less! In the process, we may/do ignore few things which might warrant more attention.

How do we strike a balance? Or do we just gulp whatever is fed to us, which might lead to upset tummy sometimes, or puking occasionally (Snapchat-syle rainbow colored)!

Here's a dose of Monday Morning motivation!!

Go(o)d Particles

Seeing and believing are two different things. Seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, sensing touch are all physical activities. While belief is something much more.. it's an abstract idea.. something similar to feeling.. the physical sensory organs create some reflexes which we all feel - a mix of physical and metaphysical .. the physical part leads to our actions and reactions while the metaphysical part leads to accumulation of experience and feeling which leads us to believe in a certain way and evolve a 'belief system'.. and a collective 'belief system' is known as... we all know what...

The concept of God and God, Himself, are difficult for us to understand. The common wisdom and common belief systems lead us to believe in things which we ourselves have never experienced.. here comes the concept of 'Faith'.. and to be 'labeled' as a 'good person' according to the 'society' or a 'community', one has to conform to this belief system and have faith.

Social Media!

Once upon a time, every newcomer in the corporate IT world used to have fun with the most widely used communication tool - Email. And the fun was 'forwards'. Remember hitting 'Crtl+F' and 'Alt+Enter' impulsively and shooting a mail with 'FWD' in subject line, perhaps coupled with some other keywords to ensure 'safety'! ;) And then, there were blokes who used to religiously send Thought-For-The-Day or Good-Morning mails as a daily ritual! There were forwards of good-luck or bad-luck striking if one forwarded the mail to x number of recipients, or fund-raising for some sick child - for every forward 1$ will be credited, or blonde-jokes, or about some social-cause, or some product promotions.. variety of subjects.. I vividly remember same images being recirculated with different stories! While few others just plain, out-rightly fake news, stories or urban-legends! And of course, there was also the spamming on personal mail-ids. Over a period of time people could sensibly judge and decide what is true and what is not!

Justice

Is Forgiveness = Weakness? Is Justice = Revenge?
These were the questions that rose in my mind few days back when I had a heated debate on FB with a colleague-friend. It revolved around the idea of delivering justice in a very straightforward way - kill the killer. This person comes from a armed-forces background. I have immense respect for the people who risk their own lives guarding the nation and its sovereignty against any hostility. I, on the other hand, am civilian, who does not have the faintest idea of what it feels like to be having the power to take away someones life. I'm too faint-hearted for any blood and gory. Fine, I may have read Godfather many times or may have cried watching war movies.. but by nature I'm a peace loving person.

It - the debate - boilded down to the notions of justice and forgiveness.

What is justice? What does being just mean? Being fair mean?

Love All - Part 4

Someone posted this image on FB and triggered a series of comments from few 'friends'... Things went nasty after few rounds and then the inevitable happened. One guy was forced out of the discussion. One bowed away (see below). Makes me wonder sometimes what the world has turned into :(

Love All - Part 3

This discussion started here... and hopefully should end in this post :)
Comments are, however, welcome...

First of all, there is no point answring for something which i never said, i nevver said that peace can be achieved by making anybody the escape goat or taking anyones life. i never said "go around killing anyone whom you don't like"..this is what these inhumane guys do. I wonder people are ready to give their own life but are oppose killing of a murderer ??
The basic principle here is.. 'that' which is mine, I have full right to give it away.. however, you cannot and should not take away anything that does not belong to you.. that is transgressing.. be it an act of perpetuation or an act of justice..

Respect.. Free-will.. Culture..

Few days back I read this interesting post. It was about few blokes who out of respect to elders, don't smoke in their presence.

In another couple of days, saw a similar post on FB. This one had a different flavour. Few young ladies taking a puff - title went 'mulgi shikli, pragati zhali'.. now this particular title is used by Government to promote education of girl child and literally means - If girl child learns (is educated), society will flourish/develop. Obviously, with this picture its plain sarcasm - don't know towards whom.. Government or this young generation of today's progressive India. Below this 'status' were thousands of likes, hundreds of shares and people who had strong opinions also wrote some very fiery comments.. ranging from 'women in India/our culture are treated with respect - daughters, mothers', 'they should not be objects of desire but of respect', and similar sentiments on one side of the spectrum. And in the 'red corner' were champions of free will and equal rights and freedom for smokers. Some were indifferent to the fact that these smokers were females, while others felt strongly that women are being 'singled out'.

Morning Emptiness

It's been long long time since I've rode my bike at unearthy hours of early morning. Wide open empty roads. No traffic. Occasional fast moving vehicle - a truck usually .. winters are slowly reciding but its still cold.. the 'still' morning air.. cold and a lil bit chilling.. not much but .. can ride at 40-50kmph not any faster .. wee bit warmer on the bridge across the small rivers criss-crossing Pune.. warm, humid, smelly moisture for a couple of seconds.. twice in the entire 15kms short dash to Pune Station from home (Pimpri).. old black leather jacket still keeps me warm.. carrying helmet in train is 'pain' but shouldn't have left it at home.. anyways.. the morning emptiness of roads and a peaceful short ride of just 30mins brings back many memories.. early morning rides are always soothing .. should be doing more of them.. I am missing something in my daily routine .. Perhaps its time I started getting up early each day.. pick up some physical activity..
